DEPRAG Internship | Day 10 - Friday, June 14th, 2024

Transcript:

Hello! This is Max. It is Friday, June 14, and I just finished Day 10 of my internship at Deprag here in Amberg. Today, I continued working in the screwdriver design and testing department. There, a mechanical engineer explained the different types of quality control, including calibration and testing, performed on the screwdrivers. The calibration includes the general calibration performed on a series of screwdrivers and the precise calibration performed on each individual screwdriver. The calibration adjusts the torque measured by the screwdriver to the actual torque measured by an external reference sensor. Testing performed includes Type Testing that is carried out on an entire series of screwdrivers to ensure overall quality. Additionally, Machine Capability Testing is carried out on screwdrivers that are used to assemble screws that are critically important to the functionality and safety of machinery. Process Capability Testing is carried out on selected screwdrivers for further documentation and to ensure optimal torque for a long duration. After learning about these various quality control methods, I worked with a high-speed, 4000 frame-per-second camera that is used to record the motion of quickly moving machinery. Later, I was shown how the engineers use finite element method (FEM) simulations to test how the screwdriver components react to various forces exerted within or upon them. See you tomorrow!
